Diabetic Diet Plan

Diet is particularly important in all types of diabetes and should be respected regardless of drug treatment followed.

To be effective, the treatment must be individualized according to age, sex, physical activity, food preferences, but also any associated diseases (obesity, hypertension, renal diseases, etc..).

Here, first, some general recommendations on diet diabetes:
- Calories: normal weight diabetic needs the same calorific value as a healthy individual, but of varying calories from fat, carbohydrates, protein. The overweight will follow a low-calorie diets (with fewer calories) and low bodyweight-hipercaloric regime;
- Carbohydrates: 50-55% of calories (about 300gr./zi) avoiding simple sugars and rapid absorption of refined products such as sugar and its derivatives;
- Protein: 12-15% of calories (about 1gr/kg/zi) in case of renal damage will not exceed 0.8 g / kg / day;
- Fat: 30-35% of calories (about 125gr/zi);
- Dietary fiber: 30-35 gr / day from vegetables, fruits, cereals, legumes;
- Salt intake: less than 7 g / day and in hypertensive shall not exceed 3GR.

A diabetic must eat little, but more often (5-6 meals a day), to comply with certain fixed hours for dining and dinner will be at least 2 hours before bedtime.

Foods allowed diabetic patients:
- Tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, cucumbers, cabbage, eggplant, leeks, lettuce, carrots, celery, beet, dry onion, garlic;

For young adult with a height of 170 cm and weight of 70kg, which makes an average physical activity (energy consumption of 40cal/kg/zi), such a regime may be the following:

Another system in diabetes without complications, this time totaling 1600 calories is the following (it is necessary to adjust your diet according to physical activity, sex - daily caloric needs depending on the issue was presented in an article last):

Do not forget that the above schemes are good examples to follow in uncomplicated diabetes (renal diseases, obesity) and no other associated disease (chronic gastrointestinal ulcer, chronic cholecystitis, chronic hepatitis, hypertension, etc.).

Also, if children or pregnant women suffering from diabetes, it is necessary that this system be adjusted. Therefore, in future articles I will present some models of treatment for some of the above cases.

Besides food categories are permitted in this disease, we need to know and their preparation certain rules, rules which often are not known by the patients:

- Do not never use sugar or sugar products to food preparation;
- To remove the bitter taste, sometimes observed, the saccharin or other sweeteners, they will dissolve in some water. This will add at the end of training preparation;
- Preparation of sauces are made without flour. Can be used for thickening sieved vegetables;
- Bread, if they eat fried, will be weighed before frying because of dehydration increases the amount of carbohydrate;
- Fruits and vegetables are weighed before heat treatment (boiling, baking). But it is best to consume as much as possible to raw state;
- Following boiling pasta will increase their volume and contains about 20 grams. carbohydrates per 100 grams. pasta.
